Industrial sludge - Sewage sludge

Thermally utilisable after pre-dewatering

Industrial sludges - sewage sludges - construction waste and paper fiber sludges

In the industrial and economic sectors, numerous sludge wastes are generated that must be properly disposed of and, where possible, reintegrated into economic cycles. These include, among others, sewage sludge  from municipal wastewater treatment, wood and paper fiber sludge, sludge from construction waste, from the chemical industry, as well as fat- and oil-containing sludge. Biosludge from agriculture, such as manure or residual materials from biogas production, also falls into this category. Thermal sludge treatment, particularly incineration, has proven to be an efficient method for disposing of industrial and sewage sludge in many cases. This is especially true for sludge with high levels of pollutants, such as heavy metals or toxic organic substances. Since the chemical and physical properties of sludge often make direct landfilling or incineration neither ecologically nor economically viable, mechanical dewatering or stabilization is carried out as an initial step. The processed and pre-dried material is then subjected to various recovery processes before ultimately being incinerated. Municipal sewage sludge is becoming increasingly important due to its steadily rising volumes. To address these challenges, INTEC has continuously improved its incineration plants. The modern systems efficiently utilize the heat and energy released during combustion, enabling their use for power generation or heat supply.
