Fossil fuels and derived energy sources
Fossil fuels such as coal, natural gas, and crude oil, as well as derived energy carriers like LNG, light, medium, and heavy fuel oils, multi-oil, briquettes, and pellets, continue to play a significant role in energy generation across many countries worldwide. Particularly suitable for the efficient use of LNG, fuel oil, and multi-fuel oil are fast-regulating boiler systems and gas turbine power plants, which ensure reliable electricity and heat generation.
For solid fuels like briquettes and pellets, grate firing and fluidized bed combustion systems are used, as these technologies are well-developed and capable of achieving high efficiencies and low emission levels. To make the use of these energy carriers more sustainable, combined technologies such as combined heat and power (CHP) systems can further enhance efficiency and improve energy utilization.
