INTEC GMK delivers for the SENJA power plant (Norway) a 900 kW ORC unit
August 2025
In August 2025, a high-temperature ORC system was successfully delivered to the SENJA power plant in Norway, which will provide local district heating and electricity in the future. The plant uses part of the waste heat from the incineration of municipal and commercial waste, which is transferred via a hot water circuit at 190 °C to the ORC system. With an electrical output of around 900 kWel, the system converts part of this energy into climate-friendly electricity. With its successful delivery and integration, INTEC GMK is making an important contribution to a sustainable and resource-efficient energy supply in the region.

High-Temperature ORC System with combined heat and power in Spain
May 2025
Since the 2022/2023 energy crisis, production costs in Spain’s food industry — one of the country’s largest economic sectors — have risen significantly. In response, a large-scale government funding program was launched to promote the adoption of sustainable technologies.
As part of this initiative, a major food producer commissioned INTEC GMK to supply a high-temperature ORC (Organic Rankine Cycle) system for the energy recovery from biomass waste. The high-performance system was designed and engineered by us and is currently being delivered as a modular unit.
The ORC plant uses hot exhaust gases from biomass combustion to generate both electricity and process heat via a heat transfer oil circuit. The heat transfer oil is heated to 330–340 °C in a heat recovery system and transfers its heat to an organic working fluid in the ORC evaporator.
This fluid evaporates at 310 °C and drives a turbine, generating an electrical output of 1.3 MW. With a turbine efficiency of around 84%, the remaining thermal energy is recovered in a second heat exchanger for industrial processes such as drying or cleaning.
By combining electricity and heat production, the system achieves an overall efficiency of approximately 30% in CHP (combined heat and power) mode. The modular and automated design ensures low maintenance and high operational reliability. The use of biomass supports the decarbonization of industrial processes and exemplifies the efficient use of high-temperature waste heat from renewable sources through modern ORC technology.
District heating for 30,000 households in Klagenfurt and green electricity with our innovative fluidized bed combustion system.
March 2025
The Bioenergy Center Kärnten has commissioned us to build a new biomass central heating plant for the Klagenfurt South facility, which is now nearing completion. The INTEC fluidized bed combustion concept being used in Klagenfurt ensures efficient combustion of biomass fuels while complying with the applicable emission limits.
The new fluidized bed combustion system has a heating capacity of 30 MWth. The fuels used are wood, bark, and wood chips.
The steam generator employed is a water-tube boiler with natural circulation, which produces 33 t/h of superheated steam at 480°C and 69 barg. The turbine installed by the customer extracts 28 t/h of steam, which generates 6.2 MWel of electrical power. A steam extraction at 12 barg is performed to supply two local companies with process heat, including a dairy. The energy from the turbine exhaust steam is fed into the existing district heating network.
Thanks to the new facility by INTEC Engineering GmbH, the sustainable energy supply to the city will be further expanded, significantly reducing dependence on fossil fuels.

First thermal oil heater in rocket design in the USA
Our first thermal oil heater in a rocket design has been put into operation in the USA. Another unique story in the plastics industry which shows our supremacy. The vertical design was chosen due to the limited space available. The heater has a capacity of 5.3 MW.
