A Spanish family-owned company from Borgos placed an order with us to supply a biomass-fuelled energy centre for the production of MDF boards. A four-zone grate firing system with an output of 42 MW was used as the firing system. The total firing capacity was increased to 53 MW via dust injection nozzles in the post-firing zone. This also had a positive effect on the control speed of the output. The saturated steam for the refiner was provided by an indirect steam generator heated with thermal oil. A cyclone battery was used to pre-clean the exhaust gas before it was fed into the dryer.
After the Spanish family-owned company's MDF production was taken over by the market leader, INTEC was commissioned by the new owner to tune the system. The aim was to increase performance by 10-20%, which was achieved by installing a combustion chamber roof cooled by heat transfer oil and by replacing some units.
